As I am also frequently found in my local casino after the bars have closed, drunk and shouting, 'Lucky Number 5, Come on! Baby needs new shoes!" so the prospect at playing Black Jack in the Bellagio was all too much. Las Vegas did not disappoint. It was a totally surreal place, like Blackpool on serious drugs.

We were there to play a MySpace Secret Show at the Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel, which was downtown away from the main strip. It was less sparkly than the rest of Vegas but it was a cool venue and it had a costume store, YASS!! Needless to say the minute I got there I was right in there dressing up and laughing at myself in the mirror. I settled for a wee wedding ensemble which seemed fitting for the event. The show was great, really atmospheric and intimate. We had a great time and everyone there gave us a warm welcome, some waiting since the early afternoon for the show to begin.

Afterwards it was party time and I got stuck into the bubbly. As I smoked outside the bus, cars kept passing and tooting their horns, I must have looked like a trashy bride, drink in one hand and Marlboro Light in the other.

We then returned to the hotel to continue the debauchery. Around 3.30am I was in Casino mode, i.e. the drunkest girl in the world! I went downstairs and bumped into Dean, one of our managers, and we decided head to the Bellagio for free cocktails. We hammered the cosmos. I played the machines and the Dean played Black Jack. Five cosmos down the line I was $20 up, so I was ready to leave - Dean on the other hand was for going nowhere as he was $1300 up and had bumped into Alan Thompson (ex Celtic player). Alan was a star, really sweet guy and he encouraged me to keep gambling whilst Dean plied me with more cosmos. It was a riot! Alan and I kept pissing off the croupiers by smoking where we weren't supposed to and coming up with conspiracy theories as to how they were stealing our money. As we played and drank, the croupier of 25 years told us of how once she was faced with a gun at the table and the bullet had her name on it. Thankfully she escaped unhurt.......if anyone was going to take our money I'm glad it was her. Around 7am Dean had overtaken me in the drunken stakes and disappeared. When he returned he told me of how he'd beheaded a statue whilst making a phone call! Apparently the grandiose statue was as fake as the rest of Vegas and the weight of a drunken Glaswegian guy leaning on it was all too much - it had fallen over and lost its head in the process! At that point I knew it was time to leave before we were escorted out of the building. We left financially ruined but rich in memories!

C
xxxx

Win Tickets to see Glasvegas play NARM at Night in San Diego Tomorrow, June 9th!

Glasvegas is playing Narm at Night @ On Broadway in San Diego tomorrow, Tuesday, June 9th at 10 pm.

The first 2 people to email glasvegasnarm@gmail.com will win a pair of tickets to the show!
(Be sure to include your name and phone number when entering)

Tickets are on sale here.

Venue Information:
On Broadway
615 Broadway
San Diego, CA
Reminder venue is 21

Glasvegas HQx

KOL support in USA

Incredibly for the 6th time within 12 months Glasvegas are once again pleased to announce that they will be coming back to the USA after being confirmed as main support to Kings of Leon during the month of September '09. The venue was bigger than the rest we had played and had sold out very quickly so we were eager to give it our all. I stupidly dragged my suitcase through the streets to the hotel which was about 2 miles away then moaned about it all night. It's never my fault, always someone elses. The street next to the hotel had more peep shows and strip bars than i've ever seen and i wondered who went along in the middle of the afternoon. I got a few dirty looks for going down it with a case, people must have thought it was full of dildos or other items. While we sound checked we got told the PA belonged to Bryan Adams so we felt a little more comfortable knowing an innovative artist like him had played through it. The gig was fantastic, one of the shows where us, the sound, the lights, the crowd and the venue come together like the planets aligning and something magic happens. It was easily the best show of the tour. Caroline said it was the best show of the year but had to be reminded the year was only 2 weeks old by this point so that wasn't the best yardstick to measure it by. We had to leave straight after to drive to the next city so another party ensued on the bus. I opened a cupboard to see if there was beers but was met by a bottle of malt vinegar dropping out and smashing all over me. I spent the rest of the journey smelling like fish and chips.

Portland
On the way to Portland we stopped in a place called Medford so the driver could rest. We spent 2 hours looking for a gun range to see what the big deal was about firearms but it was only open to the public on Sundays. So after church you can go pop some caps in paper targets asses. We made it to Portland the next day and seen the club we were playing was in the hotel we were in. I looked through the hotel directory and found that one room contained a tattoo parlour and another a sex shop. Very bizarre. The venue itself had logged walls and looked like a Swedish sauna. After we played Gary from The Cribs came backstage for a few drinks. He's a really sweet guy and looked after us the rest of the night. Again we left early to head south to LA

Los Angeles
New York has always been a great experience when we've been there but LA was even better. It was sun drenched and boiling when we got there (i still refused to take my leather jacket off, i lost about two stone in sweat). The first thing we had to do was The late late show with Craig Ferguson. He came down to meet us in rehearsal and slotted right back into his Glaswegian accent. He told us he had asked a guest to introduce our song who turned out to be William Shatner. It was a very witty intro and perhaps the most surreal thing to happen to us.

The next thing we had was our gig at the Troubador. It was very humbling when we were told about all the people who played there over the years like the Doors. We had Carl and Angela supporting us again and Carl almost shit himself when James wandered onstage to sing B.U.R.M.A. with him. He must have thought it was a Mark Chapman moment and he was soon to leave this plane of existence. Before we went on Rick Rubin and Lisa Marie Presley came up to the dressing room to wish us luck. It was another moment that showed how small the world is in that you can be on a building site in Glasgow and 12 months later your in LA with people you'd only read about in books. The show was great and everyone seemed very surprised that the crowd sang along on Daddy's Gone. People said that never happens in LA but everytime it happens we feel very humble. After the show we had a few drinks in the bar then went to Carls room in the hotel for a party. I left about 6 a.m. and was seen wandering the corridors half an hour later with a bottle of vodka in my hands mumbling that my room was near James Dean. The hotel had about 50 James Dean pictures hung on every floor so it must have took a while to find it.

The next day we had to be at a TV show for 9. I was still VERY drunk which led to the presenter and i arguing when he made a comment about me being hammered. I of course denied this, well slurred a denial anyway. I then proceeded to steal James' shoe during an interview and throw it at a cameraman. James had made disparaging comments about East 17 and i couldn't let it go unpunished. I was sent to bed to sober up before the next radio show.

The final day started with a session for KRCW radio. Things were going well and sounding good when the controller came in and asked if we swore in any songs. When we said we did she went chalk white. She was subsequently reassured and the six songs we done sounded brilliant, especially when James and Rab done Cruel Moon on piano and guitar. Me and Caroline'll be on the dole for Easter if they keep that up. That night we went out with a big group of friends to a mexican restaurant. I was in the middle of moaning about how long the guy inside was taking when the door opened and Dustin Hoffman walked out. Thank fuck i was at a toilet as i shat myself.

Paul x

Blog from USA - pt 1

We left Glasgow airport to fly to New York what feels like an eon ago. On the way to the airport James asked if we could swap seats as he was meant to be in the middle of Rab and I. I stupidly said yes and spent the rest of the flight like a piece of wood in a vice. They both commandeered the armrests and no amount of my polite huffing could budge them so i resorted to the biological warfare of my anus. They both went green but still didn't give an inch. Halfway through the flight i was awoken by the stewardess asking if there was a doctor on board. Not a bit like Airplane! The woman next to us had fainted and was spread across 3 seats. The woman next to her done the stereotypical Glasgow thing and started moaning at her as she was on "her fucking honeymoon". Have a heart hen it's not the womans fault. When we landed we drove up to Boston (a number 2 album and we still can't afford a direct flight to where we're headed!) When we got there we realised we'd left Carolines cymbal on the plane so she was a little annoyed with us. I'd left my wallet too so someone on Continental airlines has won a watch.

Boston
When we got to Boston it was covered in snow. So many people said "you must be used to it in Scotland". It hasn't snowed in Glasgow for a while so i usually replied with "YOU must be used to cheeseburgers and spelling colour (fucking color) wrong. The hotel had a Chinese restaurant called The Joyful Garden. This got my hopes up as the last place i was in with this name had a very different menu. The restaurant definitely didn't have Plug 'n' Tug as a starter. We played a little pub that held about 150 people that was amazing, we like doing those as you can see the whites of peoples eyes and there's an electricity that you don't get in big venues. One of the people there bought us a bottle of bourbon which led to a night of hurling for me.

New York
We drove from Boston to New York and the first promotion we had was the David Letterman show. When we got onstage it was amazing to think that all those nights in a freezing rehearsal room in Glasgow could take you on to a show like that, I felt very proud of what we've accomplished so far. The guest was Kate Hudson who looked so good it took your breath away. I felt very privileged to have performed with James, Rab and Caroline that day, i don't tell them that enough and want them to know that. After the show we had an instore in Union Square. It was very humbling to come so far from home and see so many people who wanted to see us play and get stuff signed. Instores are a little hard because you don't get a lot of time to set up but everyone loved it. Afterwards we went to our hotel bar with our friend Sune from the Raveonettes. After about 50 mojitos i staggered up to bed. I have no recollection of leaving but our manager Dean said when he answered the door to the room i staggered in like Woody from Toy Story. I even spewed, cleaned it up and brushed my teeth and can't recall any of it. The rest carried on partying and James woke up with messages on his bathroom mirror written in toothpaste.

The next day i awoke with the worst hangover. I was in an inexplicable rage about something, caused purely by my own actions. When i got downstairs the hotels fish tank was manky and the smell of my old fish tank came back to me and led to another appearance of the mojitos. The show was amazing, even though Div, our lighting guy, almost blinded New York with a set of floodlights behind us. If you don't leave blind and deaf from our gigs we're doing something wrong. We had our friend Angela Mcluskey supporting us too and everytime we see her it gets more special. We had an aftershow in a bar where Rab painstakingly told me how to DJ. It was a real achievement on his part as i could barely walk again. We went straight to the airport from the aftershow and wandered around in a pure daze awaiting the bar opening. The Moteley Crue then left for the west coast.

San Francisco
I awoke with another hangover (they're becoming TOO regular) with the plane bumping down on the runway. I had stirred about ten minutes before landing and didn't think i was asleep so i had shat myself that we'd hit one of those pesky geese you hear about. Everyone thought it was hilarious while i sneaked off for an underwear change. The hotel was very cool, it had a big heated pool in the court and was in a 1950's style. We got to meet up with our friend Carl Barat too. We were so happy when he came along for the west coast dates with us as he's one of the gang. Everyone else headed out into the night and left me to get a much needed 20 hour sleep. I'll leave it to the others to regale you with the tales of the night. We got on our tour bus and headed to the venue for our first west coast tour. The dressing room had what i thought was a one way mirror looking out over the crowd which i was acting like a chump in front of. It wasn't until later i found out people could see in perfectly clearly. I was affronted but fuck it. Carl opened up and was blinding, his pre-show nerves were very misplaced.

Seattle
We drove through the night to Seattle which resulted in a party on the bus. There had been torrential rain and terrible flooding in Seattle so we were lucky to make it. We were looking forward to playing here due to the amount of amazing music that came out of the city. When we got to the venue we found out there had been two people shot and one of them killed the week before so there were clenched sphincters for a while. Next door to the venue was a gay bar and i seen a 50 year old guy come out wearing leather trousers, jacket and cap. It's amazing to see someone so comfortable in themselves they don't give a fuck what people think. I wish more of the world was like that. After the show we headed to a bar across the road with a lot of people who'd came to see us. I sat down underneath a skeleton stuck to the wall and only realised it when everyone who came over did a double take. I went to the toilet and i'm sure someone had a conversation with it about playing bass. Definitely need to get some weight gain 3000.

Part 2 to follow on Friday...

Paul x

The Interface Live Performance on AOL Spinner!

Watch Glasvegas' latest interview and live performance on The Interface.

The live set includes: Flowers and Football Tops, Geraldine, Daddy's Gone, and It's My Own Cheating Heart That Makes Me Cry.

Glasvegas HQx
Flowers and Football Tops Video Is Here!

The newest Glasvegas video has been released.

Be sure to have a look on the Myspace video page now!

Glasvegas HQx
